Sensory Spaces

The Future of Public Events

Public events are a sensory battlefield—loudspeakers, flashing lights, unpredictable movement. For many, it’s exhilarating. For autistic people, it’s overload with no escape.

🔹 A Reset, Not a Retreat
Sensory Reset Spaces aren’t about stepping away—they’re about staying in. A moment of quiet, a space to breathe, and a chance to rejoin without hitting a breaking point.

🔹 Engineering Events for Real-World Use
If a space isn’t designed for all kinds of brains, is it really built for people? Sensory Reset Spaces bring practical, science-backed solutions to the chaos of public gatherings.

🔹 Stay Longer. Enjoy More. Leave on Your Terms.
Without a reset space, many won’t last an hour. With one, they can recharge and stay—whether for 30 minutes or the full event.

🔹 A Smarter Approach to Event Design
This isn’t an extra feature. It’s an essential function. The best events work for everyone’s nervous system, not just the loudest ones.

From Our President & Founder

“As a veteran and neurodivergent student with ADHD and PTSD, as well as a mother of two autistic kids, I recognize that every student learns in their own way. Whether that be visually, audibly, or experientially. In spring 2022, our girls had been let go from a school, because they no longer had the resources to take care of their needs. Difficult as that was to swallow, I respected the school’s decision and ability to acknowledge where they were unable to meet the needs of our children. However, we either create out of inspiration or desperation. As this hadn’t just impacted our small household, it affected our whole family and those who love our girls; My Dad Mike, their Pop Pop, watching the turmoil that this caused our household, had the incredible notion to create a school and resource center for Autistic families. Naturally, more family got involved and their Nana Mary, immediately knew what to name it, Lyla’s House, after our youngest daughter. They presented the idea to me and after ruminating on it, I knew this was going to become my purpose and was exactly what our world needs.” - Dana
